An online learning opportunity about breast cancer. For GPs and health professionals – Join us on Wednesday 20th October at 18:45.

Your guest speaker will be Miss Loraine Kalra, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle.

This is a national online event for GPs and healthcare professionals, hosted by Rutherford Cancer Centres. Guest speaker

Miss Loraine Kalra – MBChB, MS (General Surgery), MRCS, MS in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, FEBS, PG dip in Ultrasound of the Breast, MBA (healthcare administration)

Loraine Kalra qualified from King Georges Medical College in 1987, after which she obtained her masters in general surgery and Fellowship in Surgical Oncology. She also holds a Masters in Breast Oncoplastic surgery from the University of East Anglia and is a Fellow European Board of Breast Surgery (FEBS).

She joined the NHS in 2010 and the Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle in 2016, prior to which she was at Kingston hospital London and Western Sussex NHS trust.

She is the Northern Cancer Alliance Chair for the Breast tumour Board and has actively worked with colleagues from across the region to encourage new and innovative pathways in breast cancer care.

Along with her clinical practice she has also worked for two International Corporates as their Medical Director and holds an MBA in Healthcare Management. She has substantial experience in treating a whole range of breast conditions from breast pain to complex reconstructions for advanced breast cancer. Her main interest is obtaining the best outcomes for her patients in breast cancer and she utilises oncoplastic and breast reconstruction surgery to maintain the breast shape and body image after breast cancer surgery.
