Dr Bart Kurec is a consultant clinical oncologist in a substantive post in Worcestershire Oncology Centre, specialising in the management of urological cancers. Due to his background in radiation oncology, Dr Bart Kurec also has a supportive role in breast cancer radiotherapy. He has also previously supported lung and head and neck cancer radiotherapy, and is involved in the development and improvement of radiotherapy techniques in Worcestershire Radiotherapy Centre.
Dr Bart Kurec graduated in 2006 from the Medical University of Silesia, School of Medicine in Katowice, Poland. He completed his specialist training in radiation oncology in 2014 and subsequently moved to England and joined the team at Worcester Oncology Centre.
Dr Bart Kurec is involved in a number of clinical trials, actively recruiting patients, such as: STAMPEDE (for high risk and advanced prostate cancer), ADD-ASPIRIN, POSNOC (breast cancer), EASI-SWITCH (chemotherapy-related neutropenic sepsis management study).
Dr Kurec has received training from the Rutherford Cancer Centres in the delivery of proton beam therapy. The programme, Proton Therapy Clinical Education, in conjunction with The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and IBA, the leading proton beam therapy solutions manufacturer, involves oncologists gaining practical experience in Penn’s Roberts Proton Therapy Center – one of the world’s leading centres of proton therapy research and expertise.
