Rutherford Cancer Centres shines a light on its nurses for International Nurses Day

Over the past two years, the pandemic has brought a new level of admiration for Rutherford’s fantastic nursing team who deliver vital care for cancer patients across the country.

Across the four Rutherford Cancer Centres, there’s an expert team of dedicated and passionate oncology nurses, each one playing an instrumental role in the treatment process and the overall patient experience.

Since Covid, Rutherford has seen a 200% increase in patients receiving SACT (systemic anti-cancer therapy), which describes all types of drugs used in chemotherapy treatment, across its centres. Without the support of our expert nurses, this would not be able to happen.

Today, Rutherford is saying a big ‘thank you’ to all of our nursing staff who keep our centres running smoothly, provide endless kindness and support, and deliver high quality patient-centred care to patients and their families day-in, day-out. The unique contribution of each nurse is vital for the people we care for at our centres.

To celebrate International Nurses Day, we sat down with some of our amazing nurses who have shared their experience of what it’s like being an oncology nurse at Rutherford.
